Giving Back

Ruhengeri, Rwanda

Your hosts believe that in addition to individuals and governments, businesses of all sizes should also act as positive forces on the community around them in their own way. For our small part 10% of the proceeds each year will go to a different cause. In 2020 we are making contributions to Children in the Wilderness, a non-profit supported by ecotourism company Wilderness Safaris to facilitate sustainable conservation through leadership development and education of rural children in Africa. The Juliette funds specifically will go towards a community in Rwanda that inspired your hosts on a 2017 visit. We hope our guests will enjoy their experience even more knowing they are partnering with us to support a great organization.

CITW mission statement

Insight, care and commitment are required to conserve Africa’s pristine wilderness and wildlife areas. If we are to ensure that these places continue to exist – in this generation and those to come – we need the rural children of Africa to understand the importance of conservation and its relevance in their lives. Hence, our Children in the Wilderness programme: an environmental and life skills educational programme for children, focusing on the next generation of decision-makers; inspiring them to care for their natural heritage and to become the custodians of these areas in the future.

For those interested in learning more we are including a short plug for the video that inspired us to visit the national park area in Northwestern Rwanda as well as our favorite literature focused on the area through half a century of history, and we encourage you to visit the CITW website.
